The Consultant, Abandoned and Unclaimed Property Consulting (“Consultant”) works with a team to assist clients with unclaimed property services, including voluntary disclosure agreements and audit defense. This includes researching issues, reconciling databases, and completing detailed calculations. The ideal candidate has analytical and problem-solving skills, coupled with strong writing and verbal communication skills.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists Manager and team with providing unclaimed property audit defense services to clients.
- Reviews records requested by auditor and other necessary records to identify areas of potential noncompliance.
- Works with manager to execute on strategies for mitigating any potential liability.
- Reviews general ledger chart of accounts and trial balances.
- Assists with identifying categories of potential unclaimed property liability.
- Participates in quantifying potential liability by property type.
- Assists with drafting written review methodology reports.
- Downloads, organizes, and maintains client data and workpaper files.
- Researches state unclaimed property statutes to answer client questions.
- Assists with analysis of client’s existing unclaimed policies and procedures.
- Participates in interviews of accounting personnel.
- Drafts and edits correspondence.
- Handles and safeguards confidential information.
- Prioritizes tasks and assignments for concurrent engagements.
- Works both independently and as part of a team with professionals at all levels.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics or other degree with Masters’ in Business Discipline or JD, Business Analytics, or Business Computer Information Systems.
- Must have 9 hours of Accounting coursework.
- One to three years unclaimed property, state government audit or auditing experience preferred.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have intermediate knowledge of Microsoft® Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet navigation and research.
Work Environment:
- Standard indoor working environment.
- Occasional long periods of sitting while working at computer.
- Position requires regular interaction with clients and employees at all levels of the Firm via e-mail and
- telephone.
- Independent travel requirement: Up to 10%.
