Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Accredited General Equivalency Diploma (GED) Note: Proof of US equivalency must be provided if diploma is from outside the Unites States.
- Associate’s Degree or 48 hours of college coursework from an accredited college/university (preferred)
- One (1) year experience working with youth in public school, church related schools, day camps, youth groups, private schools, licensed day care center or other approved settings OR one (1) year supervisory experience.
- Current certification in CPR/First Aid or the ability to obtain certification within 30 days of employment
- Must be available during the after school hours Monday-Friday with occasional evening and weekends required for training and field trip purposes. Must have full day availability if desiring to work during Summer Camps.
- Must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting check prior to starting employment. Non-refundable fee paid by employee.
Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Knowledge of after school or youth programs

- Ability to demonstrate excellent oral/written communication skills
- Ability to demonstrate proficient computer, digital camera and technology skills

Essential Functions
- Assist Program Specialist with the supervision of Youth Leaders, Assistant Site Leaders, and the Learning Tree program at a designated campus.
- Provide excellent customer service to all and represent the Learning Tree program in a professional manner.
- Conduct site observations of Youth Leaders to ensure that daily schedule is delivered and program expectations are met.
- Help plan and participate in academic, enrichment, and recreational activities.
- Maintain open, timely and positive communication with supervisors, parents, administrators and community members.
- Ensure compliance in all areas is met properly or reported to supervisor.
- Ensure program records, reports, and other paperwork are maintained and prepared
- Prepare student discipline and incident reports, maintain documentation, and maintain student confidentiality.
- Attend/complete mandatory trainings (minimum 15 hours per school year) in core classes, required online classes, classroom management, community partner curriculum, recreation/sports, customer service, enrichment curriculum and best after school practices.
- Ensure that Learning Tree is a safe and healthy environment for youth to learn and play.
- Swimming may be required for those who desire to work at Summer Camps.
- Performs other duties assigned within the scope of responsibilities and requirements of the job.
Special Education
- May assist special needs students with feeding, diapering, toileting, hygiene, lifting, positioning, transferring to and from wheel chair
- May provide assistance to students using crisis intervention techniques and other behavior modification procedures.
Physical Demand/Working Conditions
Maintain emotional control under stress. Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job. Lifts 5-10 lbs frequently, 10-50 lbs occasionally and more than 50 lbs infrequently. Moderate running, walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, bending and twisting. Subject to visual acuity, speech/hearing, hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity to perform the essential functions. Work indoors and outdoors in varying climate conditions. May be required under special circumstances to provide physical restraint of students in danger of causing harm to themselves and others.
