Job Overview:
To better serve the global auto industry electric vehicle trend in the United States, CATL, through its U.S.-based subsidiary, CATK, is seeking a talented and experienced (Senior) IT Engineer to join our local team. As a (Senior) IT Engineer at CATK, you will play a critical role in managing and supporting various databases hosting critical applications. The ideal candidate will ensure the smooth installation, configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of crucial databases, including SAP Hana, PostgreSQL, OceanBase, Doris, and MySQL, which host applications such as MES, LES, TOM, SPC, and WMS in both on-premise and cloud environments. Additionally, you will work with the team to analyze performance and availability issues related to business systems, such as MES, LES, TOM, SPC, and ERP.
Essential Functions:
- Install and configure databases, including SAP Hana, PostgreSQL, OceanBase, MySQL, and others, ensuring proper integration with other IT infrastructure.
- Assist with the installation and setup of MES, LES, TOM, SPC, and other essential application systems and their related databases.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database issues related to SAP Hana, PostgreSQL, OceanBase, MySQL, and other databases, optimizing performance as needed.
- Monitor the operational status of MES, LES, TOM, SPC, WMS, and other application systems to ensure they are running efficiently.
- Manage the backup and recovery processes for the aforementioned databases and systems to prevent data loss.
- Install, configure, and monitor databases and applications in fail-over or load-balancing architectures to support high availability, load balancing, performance scale-up, or scale-out.
- Establish and execute disaster recovery or business continuity plans to prevent data or business loss in case of adverse incidents.
- Patch systems, including databases and related infrastructure, based on vulnerabilities or bug-fix needs, minimizing business impact.
- Monitor the performance and availability of databases and related systems/software, addressing any issues that arise promptly.
- Conduct performance tuning and optimization for databases and systems to enhance efficiency.
- Quickly identify and resolve database and system faults to minimize downtime.
- Develop and implement a database and application health governance mechanism. Set up tools to monitor and measure database health and alert stakeholders; define and refine processes or procedures for database administration.
- Evaluate and plan for system resource requirements to ensure adequate capacity and scalability.
- Work in public cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, and GCP, or in private cloud deployments. Set up or advise on applications in physical servers, virtual machines, and container environments, including Docker and Kubernetes.
- Collaborate with other IT team members to support cross-functional projects and initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Automation, Electronic Engineering, or a related field.
- Ability to quickly learn new technologies and gain key knowledge of different databases and applications.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in managing databases, with at least 3 years of experience administering applications on Linux, Unix, and Windows servers.
- Proficiency in installing, configuring, and maintaining various database systems, including Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server, OceanBase, and Doris. Experience with SAP HANA is a plus.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to quickly resolve system and database issues.
- Experience in performance tuning and optimization of both databases and application systems.
- Knowledge of backup and recovery processes to ensure data integrity and availability.
- Experience in developing and practicing disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
- Ability to evaluate system resource needs and plan for future capacity.
- Familiarity with distributed databases and modern database management practices.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, capable of working with cross-functional teams from diverse cultures and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to maintain a full-time work schedule with regular in-person attendance.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to move around work sites, which may include walking, standing, and climbing ladders or stairs.
- Flexibility to bend, kneel, or crouch, particularly when inspecting installations or troubleshooting.
- Capability to lift and carry moderate weights, typically up to 25-50 pounds.
