JOB SUMMARY:
The Rattler Spirit Chair of University Programming Council (UPC) will develop various programs and school spirited events that support the mission of the University, Student Development, Student Life, and the University Programming Council. This position spans August through May. Position will work up to 12 hours per week. Position pays $7.25 per hour. For further questions, please contact Ms. Sabrina Torres at storres39@stmarytx.edu.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Be a voting member of the Executive Board.
- Maintain approximately 12 office hours per week.
- Responsible for the planning, developing, and implementing monthly programming and or bi-weekly including initiatives that support the mission of the University, Student Development, Student Life, and the University Programming Council.
- Maintain programming for sport Opening days, rivalry games and tabling events
- Develop new traditions with Athletics (partnership)
- Assist with Membership Recruitment and Retention.
- Collaborate with other registered student organizations for programming and athletics
- Maintain accurate records of all initiatives and completed of programs to establish a resource file. This includes receipts, sketches, or any material used to plan this event.
- Work with the VP to identify the various needs of the students from evaluations
- Maintain constant communication with UPC President and advisor.
- Assist, support, and attend assigned UPC functions and events. Assist a minimum of 2 weekly events per month (Mandatory).
- Mandatory assistance to “Major Events” – refers to any event programmed by Campus Entertainment Chair, Special Events Chair, Social & Cultural Chair or President/VP.
- Provide a smooth transition of power to successor.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Currently enrolled as a full-time student at St. Mary’s University.
- Must have and maintain a cumulative GPA of at least a 2.50 and be in good academic and disciplinary standing with the university, as defined in the Student Handbook and Code of Student Conduct.
Other Requirements:
Must be able to serve for the entire academic term. Must be able to communicate effectively; have experience in Microsoft Office and related publication programs; have strong organizational skills; exhibit leadership and confidence in decisions; and possess an elevated level of customer service. Must have the ability to work with students, faculty, administrators, and staff effectively; manage time and multi-task; be a self-starter, energetic and able to meet deadlines; and collaborate with executive members, student workers, and programming assistants.
