Job Description:
The Repair Estimator works on a repair project from its inspection stage to customer approval, followed by execution and completion. Will plan, direct, and coordinate activities of designated repair project to ensure that goals or objectives are accomplished within prescribed time frame and budget. This position will provide analysis of drawings, sketches, specifications, photos, and other inspection documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for products and services needed. The Repair Estimator is responsible for preparation of a complete, accurate motor repair quotation, as well as sourcing the parts, materials, or services needed to complete the repair upon approval by customer.
Key Responsibilities Prior to Customer Approval to Proceed with Repair:
- Work with Repair Project Manager(s) and Shop Foreman to ensure work-scope understanding and quotation accuracy.
- Prepare complete, accurate motor repair quotations for customers’ review and approval.
- Analyze inspection documentation and photos to assist with quotation preparation.
- Collaborate with vendors and obtain competitive pricing for required parts, materials, or services to complete motor repair(s).
- Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and co-workers.
- Follow up with customers on status of repair quotations and purchase orders.
Key Responsibilities After Customer Approval to Proceed with Repair:
- Submit logistics maintenance requests to Logistics Manager. These requests notify our logistics team to transport individual parts of motor in need of repair to the correct vendor.
- Issue purchase orders to vendors for parts, materials, or services. Ensure expected timeframes are agreed upon and communicated with vendor(s).
- Track vendor progress on parts, materials, and services after issuance of purchase order.
- Maintain up to date notes on Job Board for all users to reference.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Detail-oriented; must be able to remember, examine, and observe details.
- Professional, positive, can-do approach to daily work.
- Strong analytical, technical, and communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office. (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Must have the ability to communicate effectively with management/ supervision.
- Ability to use math/complete calculations.
- Work at various tempos and concentrate amid distractions.
- Decision making skills necessary.
